Showcasing success of apprenticeships

In January, we held 3 recruitment roadshows in Ipswich, Lowestoft and Bury St Edmunds. The aim of the events was to help raise the profile of the sector, and showcase the success of apprenticeships as a way of employers gaining new members of staff, and the opportunities it holds for young people with the right values, to start a career in the sector.

We were so pleased to be joined by current apprentices who are now I Care Ambassadors for the sector, and their employers, to talk about their positive experience of apprenticeships and working in the sector.

Here’s what Cally Barker, an apprentice with Leading Lives had to say:

Cally Barker

“I am so grateful to Care Careers Suffolk for supporting me with the opportunity of doing an apprenticeship. It has opened the door to a career I love, and not many people can say that. I have now been offered a full time contract with my employer and I am so happy”

Cally’s manager Sue Abel said: “ Cally was our first apprentice at our service in Lowestoft, and the experience has been so positive we hope to be able to offer the opportunity to another young person. Cally is a fantastic support worker, and the support from Care Careers Suffolk, particularly at the beginning to ensure we had the right person for our service is great.”
