Inspiring carers and adult social care staff received recognition at the Suffolk Care Awards 2018 held on 4th October for their outstanding contribution to caring for people in Suffolk.

The winners were announced at a celebration evening held at Greshams in Ipswich, hosted by ITV News Anglia newsreader Jonathan Wills, who said: “We cover many health stories throughout the year on our programme, so to join some of those who make the news and celebrate their achievements is fantastic.”

Eleven organisations and individuals won Awards in 10 different categories, recognising their excellent care practice. There were 2 winners of the Special Recognition Award – nominated by users of care services or their relatives or friends – as both category finalists shone out, said judges.

The 11 winners are from: Ipswich (5), Bury St Edmunds (3), Lowestoft (1), Bungay (1), and Saxmundham (1). Details are listed below.

This is the third year the Awards have been held.

They are run by two Suffolk health and social care organisations – Care Development East, a not-for-profit organisation based in Needham Market promoting care excellence, and the Suffolk Association of Independent Care Providers (SAICP), a membership organisation involved with good care practice.

Liz Taylor, Chair, Care Development East, said: “Our job of selecting winners each year never gets any easier, and this year we had another great selection of entrants who demonstrated excellent care practice and innovation in their services. Our sector works extremely hard and it’s a great pleasure to see and hear about all the examples of good care practice in Suffolk.

“Congratulations to all the winners, and this evening is also about giving hard-working care workers and care organisations the chance to celebrate their work and to meet their colleagues in a social setting.”
