Job Title: Support Worker

Who are Thera Group?

Thera Group are a charity that support people with a learning disability. We want to demonstrate that people with a learning disability can be leaders in society but we can’t do this without you!
We need a support Worker in Stowmarket to make our vision a reality.

 

What does a Support Worker do?

The role of a Support Worker is to ensure the people you support are safe, happy and lead fulfilling lives. A Support Worker will promote independence and support people to engage in meaningful activities.
We are looking for a confident cheerful person to support a gentleman with learning disabilities and additional mobility needs in Stowmarket. He enjoys chatting to his staff and weather permitting, a walk around town in his wheelchair to visit the local café. He enjoys watching the old game shows on TV and likes staff to join in.

We have recently achieved Skills for Care endorsement which is a mark of quality in recognition of the learning and development you will receive. This is evidence that our training provision makes a significant difference to our workforce and the people we support.

 

What experience do I need?

You don’t need to have worked in support before to be a good Support Worker.
If you are caring, kind and want to work in a job that is genuinely rewarding, this is for you.
You’ll need to have great communication skills and be comfortable making decisions.
A basic level of English is also required.

Whilst experience is not essential as full training will be provided, we very much welcome previous experience of working with adults with learning disabilities, Care Worker, Health Care Assistant, Support Worker, Nurses, Social Care Worker, Care Assistant, Mental Health Care Worker, Voluntary Worker.
