Homelessness Project Worker Bury St Edmunds

£11.52 per hour 37.5 hours per week

Would you like to make a difference that lasts long after the end of your shift? Could you help support our customers towards independence? We’re seeking an experienced Homelessness Project Worker to join our team at Bury St Edmunds Homeless Services. Bury St Edmunds Homeless Services support customers who are 18+ and experiencing, or at risk of, homelessness. We are looking for supportive and positive people to empower our customers. You may be faced with challenging situations daily so you will need to be resilient and confident in managing these. At Grove Road, which is part of Bury St Edmunds Homeless Supported Housing, we are passionate about supporting people to live as independently as possible and to lead fulfilling lives. The aim of our services is to ensure our customers achieve their own goals and aspirations through the support and encouragement of our staff and focusing on delivering excellent quality. We value our team and encourage learning and progression through our comprehensive induction programme, as well as on-going training to develop new and existing skills and encourage progression. The Role

Supporting our customers to maximise their independence and move forward with their lives Assisting with assessing customers’ needs by writing and updating customer notes/support and risk management plans Being a first point of call to receive and direct all customer queries Developing good relationships with customers, helping them develop life skills Working with external agencies such as mental health and drug and alcohol professionals to support customers in accessing specialised support services Handling occasional emergency/challenging situations Going above and beyond to ensure an excellent service is provided to our customers Working as part of a team with occasional lone working Some health and safety responsibilities e.g., fire safety checks

Skills & Experience

Experience working with vulnerable adults, people with mental health needs or substance misuse – Experience in support planning, key working, risk assessment and safeguarding – Previous experience working under challenging circumstances – Good communication skills – Ability to use IT systems confidently
